Can I text Dave questions?
Yes you can, but he doesn't like texting and isn't great at it, so he usually texts back "call me". When you call him he'll talk you through any problem and answer every question you have.
What are your hours?
Our hours are generally daylight till dark (we live here on the farm) however, it's always a great idea to call ahead to make sure we aren't out running errands and to check of the availability of the fish you want.
Do you accept credit cards?
Sorry guys, no credit cards. Cash or check only.
How many amurs do I need?
We always suggest you start with 8 amurs per acre. It's really easy to add a couple more, but terribly hard to get extra back out. Most ponds end up needing 10 per acre but all ponds are different, it's best to start out conservatively.
What should I bring when I come to get my fish?
We bag the fish with oxygen for you to take home. They can survive in the bag for 6 hours. if you drive a car or SUV the bags can ride in the trunk or on the floor. If you drive a truck you should bring something to keep the bags from rolling around and to keep the sun off them.
Some people bring heavy moving blankets, large totes, cardboard boxes or coolers.
Also, in spring and fall the farm can be a muddy mess, wear boots or shoes you don't mind getting messy.

Do I need to feed my fish?
No, you don't have to feed you fish but it is fun and it'll make your fish grow faster and bigger. Also, it'll increase the number of fish your pond can support. We recommend buying floating fish food from your local feed mill, its the cheapest option. Don't ever feed your fish moldy food, it will kill them!
How do I get rid of cattails?
Amurs really like eating cattails, but it can take them awhile to get rid of them because they need to be quite large before the can pull bigger cattails.
Why won't my fish grow?
If you don't think your bass are getting big enough, we suggest adding green sunfish. They breed 4-5 times a year and produce thousands of baby fish that feed your pond. As an added bonus, they cross with bluegil to make the large hybrid bluegil. It's also a great idea to add a brush pile somewhere in your pond so that the baby fish have somewhere to hide, get bigger and provide a bigger meal for the bass.
Do muskrats eat fish?
Nope, they are almost strictly vegetarian, they won't ever catch and eat your fish. However, they will destroy the bank of your pond in short order.
